Dani Coder Progress
News Number 8
Hello everyone. This is yet another update on Dani Coder's progress.
So, after the holidays, I somehow continued working on Dani Coder, and thought about adding frames to the software. Before I started working on it, another, yet seemingly better idea popped up in my head. Images!
So, unfortunately, Dani Coder is not able to add images without the use of other languages like PHP. Because of that, I've added my own image editor, that allows users to add simple sprites to their document. It can also be coded in.
My first thought of this made me think it would be easy, but during the progressing of it, I brainstormed a lot, and it was very time consuming. Actually, I took almost two weeks working on this feature that I thought would take a day.
In order to use the canvas, you would also need pencil tools, erasers, brushes, and since I've realised that I forget which colours I choose, I've added an ink tool. This only works on objects in the document, not the panels.
I tried to get it to be as easy to use as usual editors out there, and that is when I thought of adding alpha as well. This is the transparency of the objects. So you can now see through objects. You can change your alpha values by sliding the alpha slider, or clicking anywhere along that line to snap to that position.
I tried to get DC on IndieDB, but they won't accept it. I'm guessing it's because it isn't really a game, per say. So I might make one more attempt soon.
But, I've finally completed this entire process, and would move on to other features.
Check out this awesome video that sums up what I've made:
